Ideation and

Research

We kept generating new ideas while we were doing researches. Whether it was general researches, research reports or competitive research, all of them inspired and helped us to shape our own idea.

Concept Statement

Hospitalized children can play a role of doctors and take care of their sick toys in AR which keep the same body condition with the children.

Insights and Persona

There are also many vlogs on Youtube where parents recorded the process of their children fighting with their diseases. They tried to encourage their children to stand on. Based on the vlogs and our user researches, we created 2 main personas to clarify what is our users' painpoints.

Design Values

Shifting children’s attention while they are in therapy.

Providing efficient cooperation of treatment for doctors and nurses.

Encouraging parents to support treatment actively.

Storyboard and User Flow

After rounds of discussion, we created the user flow and storyboard based on our persona and design statement.

Storyboard made by Rita. User Flow made by Lio.

Paper Prototype

After we confirmed the user flow, we immediately started working on the key interaction wireframes and conducted rapid paper prototypes.

Mockup

We started to build the app by using Vuforia in Unity. After several iterations, we created a mockup to represent our concept.

While during the process of physical therapy, toys will have the same treatment process taking with kids, which plays a responsible companion for them.

Besides for guiding the treatment process, BabySee also has other interactions to let kids “escape” the boring space.

Future Envision

This is a very potential project which explore the possibilities of AR usage in healthcare. Although there are some slaws in this project, we can imagine how AR could change our treatment or medication. AR provides another kinds of interactions that change our cognition of reality, which would gives us a totally dierent experience. The way how we creatively utilize this power and the way how we carefully control this power are the key to bring us to the next digital era.
