The Portal in Sworn is a post-level event that teleports players to a special level and showcases three distinct states: Anticipation, Locked, and Activated, each crafted to enhance player engagement and immersion.

  1. Anticipation: During combat, a faint whirlpool effect appears, hinting at the portal's imminent arrival. This subtle visual cue builds player anticipation, blending seamlessly into the environment using a Particle System and Post-Processing effects.

  2. Locked State: Upon completion of combat, lightning strikes the ground, unveiling the portal orb. The orb, bound by interactive chains, signifies its locked status. These chains, implemented with Unity Hinge Joint, respond dynamically to player interaction. As players activate the portal, the chains dissolve in real-time with a Custom Shader, adding a tactile and responsive experience.

  3. Activated State: Once activated, the orb shatters, initiating the teleportation sequence. A glowing blue overlay illuminates the player, with a dramatic ray of light pulsing from the portal. This sequence, developed with Shader Graph and Particle Effects, immerses players in the transition to the special level, marking the shift in gameplay with a vivid visual climax.
