IBM CIO China Hiring Website
This is a 4 weeks web design project when I was an UX Designer Intern in IBM China. I redesigned the previous hiring website and cooperated with my Mentor Rachel and a front-end developer. The website introduces CIO(Chief Information Offering) from different aspects, from mission and function in IBM to culture and team.
Our Goal
To improve CIO brand recognition, fresh look and feel
Using the website to give publicity to internal IBMer
Using internal referral system to attract more candidates
Persona and
User
Research
We interviewed 3 new hire (started in 3 months) and 4 established staffs (over a year) in order to:
Identify best representation for CIO Team culture
Identify things they like to share
Identify workflow to referring
Identify motivation for user to join new Team
Competitor Analysis
After discussion and finishing the site map, we were agreed that our focus should be on the landing page and digital engagement.
Digital Engagement
Mobile Portal
Scan QR code on social media poster and share. Or share H5 link directly.
Web Portal
share on social media (Email / Wechat / Linkedin): Scan QR code on website and open the link on mobile. Then, use the share function on mobile to share to social media.
Prototypes
We developed our website in the loop of ideation, prototype and test.
Challenges and Purposes:
1. To improve CIO brand recognition, we needed a fresh look and feel.
2. Promote CIO to internal employees.
To achieve the purposes, we reframed the web page as ‘Mission - Culture - Growth - Teams - Jobs’. Mission - Culture - Growth can give users a clear and engaging introduction of CIO website. Then users will learn what teams CIO has and what's their role in CIO. In this case, users can have a full picture of CIO and can find themselves a position easily and accurately.
In order to achieve our goal, I gradually improved the UI and UX from the following several aspects through the loop of ideation, prototype and test:
Delivering information efficiently.
Designing visual with depth to engage users and using visual elements to guide user browsing route.
Maintaining UI consistency within the page, including fonts, spacing, colors and icons.
Maintaing engaging and user centered experience through responsive pages.
High Fidelity Prototypes
Finally we settled down our design and made this high fidelity prototypes, and our stakeholder was surprised and really satisfied by our design solution.
Please have a look at the website that we have released:
Responsive Design
After discussing with the developers, we finally decided to use Bootstrap toolkit to develop the responsive website because it was easier to develop and more compatible to our design.
Thank You for Watching!
